Ambedkar University Opens Admission 2011

05, Jul 2011

Respite for students of undergraduate courses in Delhi NCR as Ambedkar University Reserves 85% seats for students of the region, irrespective of the courses they choose.

So there is good news for all the students who were shattered by Delhi University’s sky rocketing cut-off lists. Ambedkar University is a state university with about 85% reservation for students from the National Capital Territory. Established by an act of the Delhi Government in 2007 and notified in 2008, The University offers plenty of options for social science. Not as difficult to get through as the Delhi University, Ambedkar University offers quality education to students, who have scored good – average score in their Board exams.

Though the cut-off has hiked as compared to last year (announced on 27 June, 2011) many students can still dream of getting good quality education with the first-cut off beginning at 55%. So while the cut-off for English (H) is between 74% and 79%, for Economics (H), it is 75.75% to 80.75%. For sociology, the cut-off for Delhiites is between 73% and 78%.

The university, which is located in Dwarka and Kashmere Gate, will offer seven undergraduate courses this year. The new courses will be available in English, Sociology and Mathematics.

As with most of the courses in DU this year, all courses in Ambedkar University will follow the semester system pattern. At the university, the undergraduate courses are flexible. Students do not start studying their major subjects until the third semester. During the first two semesters, all undergraduate students study the same subjects. After they make their choice, they will proceed to major in Economics, Psychology or History. Until then, they study basic foundation courses in English and social sciences. It gives students a chance to choose the major subjects wisely.

All courses will have papers touching upon the Indian society, constitution and citizenship.

The second list, if any will be declared on July 7.
