According to N. Ram, Editor-In-Chief of The Hindu, what India needs is all-round development in higher education. While addressing the convocation of the TCE Engineering college, he said higher education was responsible for India and China post robust economic growth. He urged students to familiarise themselves with the knowledge of various fields, especially basic science, as he feels it is essential to the growth of a nation.

Furthermore, Ram feels that a student’s vision should not stop with their studies, but that they should take a further step toward serving society.
