It has been a steady trend that each year, scores of students from Bihar and UP go to other states to pursue their higher educational goals. In the last couple of years however, there has been a marginal decline as students are staying back in their home state and are continuing education especially at the recently opened universities and colleges.

The Noida region in UP is leading the state’s mission for quality and world class education. The last couple of years has seen campuses of private universities being established in Noida and Greater Noida such as Amity University, Sharda University, and GNIT to provide world class education and research facilities to UP students on their home turf.

Similarly in Bihar, Private and Government funded colleges like the College of Commerce at Patna; T.N.B college, Bhaglapur; IIT – Patna are attracting more state students. Nalanda Open University, Rajendra Agricultural University, Chanakya National Law University and Magadh University have also gained positively. The state also has Super 30, the institute renowned to groom talented students from poor sections of society to get selected in prestigious IITs.

A lot still needs to be done by the government. Students of the state belonging to weaker economic sections cannot afford to study in private colleges and universities, and as such, they are dependent on government-aided institutions for their education.
