New-age educational institutes not only teach their students, they also identify and nurture the entrepreneurial talent present in them. As a policy to create more jobs and make a higher number of young graduates self-reliant, the Government of India is also promoting the idea of start-up ventures by students with premier government research institutes pledging their full technological support to ventures that will benefit society and the country as whole.

Similarly, the IIMs, the premier institutes of MBA’s in India, has introduced programs that will prepare its students to step into the business world and start a venture of their own. The ‘iAccelerator’ program of IIM Ahmedabad is one such program designed to motivate students to take up entrepreneurship once they graduate. IIM Hyderabad is in the process of establishing a business model for seeds and bio-fuel production. IIM Bangalore supports new ventures involved in the development of security solutions for banking, bio-informatics and various similar projects.

Besides institutes, non-profit organizations such as the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) provide a platform to students to utilize their knowledge to create and implement business plans beneficial to society. SIFE’s India chapter was established in the year 2003, and since then has connected thousands of young entrepreneurs with their communities. At present, the SIFE network extends to 50 universities in the country.
