IITs Drop JMET––CAT Scores to Count
2
In a move to reduce the burden of multiple tests on students, the Indian Institute of Management has scrapped the JMET, which has so far remained the touchstone for admissions to its management programs. Speaking to the media, Narayan Rangaraj, IIT-B professor in-charge for the entrance test, said, “All the IITs have jointly decided to do away with the Joint Management Entrance Test. Instead of the JMET score, the CAT score will be considered for admissions.”
Apart from the CAT score, individual IITs will have their own criteria such as performance in group discussion and personal interview for admissions to the management degree programs offered by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).
IIT-Madras was supposed to conduct a JMET this year. But IIT-Delhi and IIT-Madras have already announced on their website that JMET stands cancelled and students have to check individual websites of departments/schools of management for other eligibility criteria.
