There is a new choice in English language tests for students who wish to study in foreign universities. Pearson has come up with a computer-based test and it can be taken in lieu of IELTS or TOEFL.

One of the best features of this test is its flexibility .The test is conducted online and students can register for the test either online 48 hours in advance or by phone just 24 hours before the test.

Even the date and time can be selected and students can submit any number of score reports free of cost for upto two years. Students can even ask for additional seats in case they are unable to get their desired date for the test.
The test has three timed sections and an introduction, where students are required to introduce themselves. The introduction is not timed. The speaking and writing section lasts between 77 and 93 minutes. The reading section is of 32 to 41 minutes duration, after which students have an option to take a 10-minute break. The candidates have to attempt the listening section in 45–57 minutes. There will be 20 types of tasks and some sections will combine reading and writing.

It is important for students to familiarize themselves with the format of the test. Students can read the official guide that also has practice questions and a CD to prepare for the test. Students can either train themselves or take a course.

The test was launched two years ago and it has already been accepted by many universities, higher education institutions, and government departments around the world, including Harvard Business School, Yale University, INSEAD, University of Manchester, and London Business School. It is accepted by the UK Border Agency for Tier 1, 2, and 4 visa and approved by the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship for student visa applications. The cost of the test is Rs. 8,000.
