Top World Universities Are Vying for Indian Students
27
The only thing on the student’s mind in June is the ‘cut off’. The college cut offs were increased by 10% this year, heating up the competition for a place in the top Indian colleges. The students with anything less than perfect scores are finding it difficult to earn a spot in the colleges of their choice, which is generally the high ranking colleges in India. On the other hand, the top universities around the world will be flocking to India to offer the talented students a spot in their institutions during the month of September.
Though Indian education is much respect and appreciated, even the top Indian colleges fail to make an impression in the global scenario as evidenced by the recently released eighth edition of the QS World University Rankings® 2011. Among the 700 universities ranked in this list, the top 100 universities are from the countries like UK, US, China, Switzerland, Japan, Singapore, Germany, Denmark and Canada.
The team behind the QS World University Rankings®, the QS World University Tour provides the meritorious Indian students meet and greet the top Universities’ represetatives and explore the possibility of studying in an International environment. The global universities are vying for Indian students due to the recognition of Indian talent in global business scenario.
Highlighting the need for quality education, Peter MacDonald, the Head of Graduate Products at QS said, “The best higher education institutions in India are heavily oversubscribed; the supply and demand of quality institutions in India does not go hand in hand.” He says that the best universities in the world have reasonable entry requirement and offer attractive visa options.
This tour also offers scholarship options and other financial aid schemes, to help alleviate the concerns regarding the high-cost of the studying abroad.
