Computer-aided Design

Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computer technology for the process of design and design-documentation. It is used to design, develop, and optimize products, which can be goods used by end consumers or intermediate goods used in other products. It also enables designers to draw design templates that can be reused, redrawn, or edited. The use of CAD ensures precision and reliability and saves time as well. A course in CAD or CAM is very beneficial for students of engineering. Due to its varied application in different fields, CAD has gained a lot of significance and has created a plethora of job opportunities for young aspirants.

Courses and Eligibility

The duration of a CAD course may be less than 6 months. Anyone who has completed the 10+2 level with a flair for computers can take up this course. Candidates with a strong background in science and engineering are preferred.

Career Prospects:

CAD is applied in all industries where precision, construction, and assembly of parts are required. Professionals can be employed in many engineering-based industries that involve architecture, automobiles, consumer electronics, electrical projects, machinery, ships, aerospace, aircraft, and many other areas demanding precision designs. Nearly every industry has a specific application for CAD software. AutoCAD, a popular CAD software package, and its many competitors permeate every industry. Auto engineers use CAD software for every aspect of auto design. In electronics and electrical industries, engineers use CAD to design wiring layout or printed circuit boards (PCB). Designers use CAD to help them design equipment for everything from medical equipment to the International Space Station.

Remuneration:

The salary in this field is very handsome. One can earn anywhere between Rs.30,000 and Rs.50,000 per month depending upon the candidate’s expertise in the field.
