Career Guide for Business Management Studies

Business management can be defined as the process of managing & supervising the business and operations of a company or organization. New and effective business strategies are formulated in compliance with the past facts and figures of the company. A successful manager is expected to apply his decision-making and leadership skills effectively in a backdrop of constraints, opportunities, and alternatives. MBA (Master of Business Administration) is one of the most sought-after business programs amid young students. MBA programs not only help the students develop skills that are highly valued by many employers, but also present a theoretical context for solving many business problems.

An outgoing, friendly personality, ability to handle people, ability to overcome pressure, ability to handle deadlines, excellent communication skills & leadership skills are some of the prerequisites in this field.

Courses & Eligibility:

For admissions in undergraduate courses like Bachelor of Business Management (BBM), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) & Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS), universities ask for 10+2 or an equivalent qualification. Some universities may prefer aspirants with a background in Maths/Commerce. Similarly for MBA, an aspirant should be a bachelor’s degree holder in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50 % marks in aggregate. In case of SC/ST/OBC students the minimum mark can be 45%. Students are selected through an entrance examination. Besides, most institutes conduct their own tests followed by group discussion and a personal interview.

Career Prospects:

Graduates have a wide range of job opportunities in the industrial sector. One can easily get jobs of Managerial or executive level after successfully completing their MBA degree. With growing number of companies and rapid industrialization, the scope of MBA is increasing every single day. Business managers are employed in various fields such as International Management, Operational Research, Public System Management, Technology Management, Hospital Management,Hotel Management, Forest Management, Rural Management, Disaster Management etc.One can also work as Financial Managers, Human Resource Mangers and so on.

Remuneration:

A fresh graduate receive a starting salary of Rs.8000-Rs.12000. One can command a higher salary on gaining a few years of experience. . Generally, MNCs and private companies offer higher pay packages in comparison to government departments.
