Event Management as the name implies, is the task of putting in order a professional and focused event, for a particular target audience. It involves visualizing concepts, planning, budgeting, organizing and executing events. Event managers organize events like fashion & celebrity shows, film awards, celebrity promotions, road shows, musical concerts, company conferences, corporate seminars, workshops, exhibitions, wedding celebrations, birthday parties theme parties, product launching etc.

Courses & eligibility:
A candidate opting for a diploma course in event management is required to pass the 10 + 2 course in any discipline. However, for a post graduate diploma in event management a bachelor’s degree in any stream is mandatory. Students may also pursue their post graduate degree from a reputed institute abroad. Candidates with flexibility, excellent public relations and networking skills can opt for this field. However to become an event manager in a reputed firm or company, one must have an MBA degree along with good public relations.

There is a huge scope in the field of event management specially, in big cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bengalooru. . can work as an event manager in companies like Wizcraft, television channels like Zee TV, coordinate fashion shows for companies like Lakme and organize award ceremonies for magazines like Filmfare. One can also work as a public relation executive in various media and advertisement houses and tourism sector. One can work as an event manger and coordinator abroad in companies like Oglivy and Mather, Percept’ D mark, CNBC TV and DNA Network and Encompass. Films and serial production houses, hotel industry, tourism, the corporate sector, BPOs (Business Processing Outsourcing), newspaper houses and the fashion industry are some of the sectors that always are in the hunt for event managers. An able event manager can also work as a consultant in corporations or can even thrive independently.
Remuneration:
Starting salary for professionals can be anywhere between Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000. An experienced event manager can earn up to Rs.50000 depending up on the clients.
