Business
Business Program Profile
Concordia’s program in Business Administration offers the most important component of any business program-reality. Our students are involved in project management for the Business Club and internships in nearby New York City, the financial center of the world. Concordia students learn to translate theories and knowledge from their classes into informed decision-making. Before entering the business arena, they are involved in courses that address both the people and the practical sides of business. Core classes cover management, marketing, economics, law, finance, accounting, and statistics. Students also learn to prepare for the changing global environment with a solid liberal arts base and a cross-cultural appreciation for other nations and traditions. Above all, Concordia produces principled business professionals that build successful careers while being socially and ethically responsible. Business administration is a four-year program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree.
Program Specialization: International Management
This program was developed in consultation with business leaders with a global perspective and emphasizes the critical thinking and communication skills necessary to succeed in the global environment. The four-year program is structured around three disciplines: business, modern languages, and international studies. This can provide a depth of knowledge in the discipline that will serve students well as they progress in their managerial careers. Classes include Intermediate Accounting I, Intermediate Accounting II, Cost Accounting, Auditing, plus Financial Analysis and Planning.

Concordia’s teacher Education programs, fully accredited by NCATE, include a foundation in liberal arts and a core of education courses, which are enhanced by a strong emphasis on pre-professional field experiences. Graduates of Concordia’s Teacher Education program qualify academically for an initial New York State Classroom Teaching Certificate and thus are ready to teach in public, private, or parochial schools. Teacher Education candidates who wish to work with younger students in a traditional self-contained classroom may choose Early Childhood (birth-grade 2), Childhood (grades 1-6) or Middle Childhood Generalist (grades 5-9) program.
Lutheran Teacher’s Diploma
In addition to preparing candidates for NYS certification, the program also grants a Lutheran Teacher’s Diploma that certifies teachers to serve in the nationwide Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod school system.

Classes are offered in grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking at several levels of proficiency. In all classes, cultural orientation is an important focus.
Church Service Vocations
Concordia’s teacher education programs, fully accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, include a foundation in liberal arts and a core of education courses. In addition to selecting Early Childhood, Childhood, or Middle Childhood Generalist, you may choose to enter the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod teaching ministry serving as a commissioned minister of education and Christian leader dedicated to the exciting and enriching experience of leading and developing young minds and personalities. The Lutheran Teacher Diploma is in addition to the requirements for the appropriate New York State teaching certificate.
The most frequent opportunity for service with the Lutheran Teacher Diploma lies in teaching classes in Lutheran schools. Lutheran teachers, however, have many opportunities to serve today’s youth and the greater church with their unique talents and interests-coordinating youth programs, coaching athletics teams, and taking on administrative roles.
