Introduction:

The Kingdom of Denmark is a Scandinavian country situated in Northern Europe comprising of the country of Denmark, Greenland as well as the Faroe Islands. Bordered by North Sea and the Baltic Sea, it is the most smallest of the Nordic countries. Denmark’s closest neighbors are Sweden and Norway. Denmark is well known for its strong welfare state, mixed market capitalist economy and has one of the most egalitarian societies in the world.

Education in Denmark:

Danish higher education institutions are oriented towards a more international approach and they offer a vast number of programmes. During the month of September, October, and November, Denmark witnesses heavy rain falls. Summer stretches from May to August. The climate during this time is pleasant. Summer in this country is also known for long days and very short nights. Autumn is the wettest season and spring is the driest season in Denmark.

Ranked as the 10th best country in the world for “Living Green” by a 2007 Reader’s Digest Survey, Denmark features historic buildings, villages and breathtaking landscapes. All of these features contribute to a high standard of living, one of the main advantages gained by living in Denmark. The study environment for students is exceptional and the standard of education is world-class. Apart from education, people living in Denmark can also take advantage of an excellent healthcare system and a safe political environment. All of these factors make studying in Denmark more popular among those wishing to pursue their higher education in this country.

Visa Procedures to Denmark:

For those people who wish to study in higher education, a student visa for Denmark will be granted for the duration of the program, however long it lasts for. International students being foreign nationals are required to have a residence permit to be eligible to continue their education in any educational institution of Denmark.

In order to be granted a residence permit student must document:

  • That they have been admitted to a higher educational program which has been approved by a state authority or which is offered by a publicly accredited institute of learning
  • That student can support themselves for the duration of their stay in Denmark. If they are to pay a tuition fee, they must document that they have paid the tuition fee for the first semester or year, instead of documenting that they can support themselves

After getting a residence permit, students can submit the application forms with the required documents and with the residence permit. The visa applications can be submitted at the Danish Visa Application Center at New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata in accordance with the Jurisdiction specified. All applications will be assessed by The Embassy of Denmark, located in New Delhi.
