Introduction:
The Netherlands, often known as Holland, is a region that is situated in Western Europe, bordering France and Germany among other countries. The Netherlands encompasses Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and other well-known Dutch cities. However, officially, it is a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which along with The Netherlands consists of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba in the Caribbean. Holland is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. It has a population of sixteen and a half million and an average of 488 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Education in Holland:
Higher education in the Netherlands is typically offered at two types of institutions: universities of professional education and research universities. The former consists of institutions specializing in a particular field, such as, the performing arts, fine arts, agriculture, and teacher training. The latter generally comprises of universities specializing in agriculture and engineering. The Dutch government is doing everything to make Dutch higher education as accessible as possible to international students. As part of this initiative, the Dutch government subsidizes higher education in the Netherlands, making tuition fess significantly less, as compared to institutes in the United Kingdom and United States.
Culture of Holland
Despite the size of the country and its population, the Netherlands is a large center for art and culture. Some of the best experimental art and classical art, music, theatre, architecture, design, film, dance and photography are being produced in Holland. The Dutch culture consists of a modern and progressive approach to art along with a preservation of their classical standards and values.
Climate of Holland:
The Netherlands has a temperate maritime climate influenced by the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean, with cool summers and moderate winters. Since the country is small, there is little variation in climate from region to region, although the marine influences are felt less inland. Rainfall is distributed throughout the year with a dryer period from April to September. Holland is a flat country and has often-breezy conditions, although more in the winter than in the summer, and more among the coastal areas than inland.

Visa Procedures to Holland:
Those people who wish to pursue their higher education in Holland will be granted a student visa for the duration of the program, however long it lasts. On completion of the course, international students being foreign nationals are required to have a residence permit to be eligible to continue their education in any educational institution in Holland.
In order to be granted a residence permit student must document:
- That they have been admitted to a higher educational program which has been approved by a state authority or which is offered by a publicly accredited institute of learning
- That student can support themselves for the duration of their stay in Holland. If they are to pay a tuition fee, they must document that they have paid the tuition fee for the first semester or year, instead of documenting that they can support themselves
After getting a residence permit, students can submit the application forms with the required documents and with the residence permit. The visa applications can be submitted at the Dutch Visa Application Center at New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata in accordance with the jurisdiction specified.
