Introduction:
The Russian federation, more commonly known as just Russia, is situated on in Eurasia. Occupying most of Eastern Europe and North Asia, Russia stretches from the Baltic Sea in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east, and from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Black Sea and the Caucasus in the south. It shares its borders with several countries, some of which are Norway, Finland, Ukraine, Poland, Kazakhstan, and China. Russia has the world’s largest reserves of minerals and energy resources as well as the world’s largest forest reserves. It also has several fresh water lakes that account for one-quarter of the world’s fresh water.
Culture of Russia:
Russian culture is associated with the country of Russia and, sometimes, specifically with ethnic Russians. It has a rich history and can boast a long tradition of excellence in every aspect of the arts, especially when it comes to literature and philosophy, classical music, ballet, architecture and painting, all of which have had considerable influence on world culture. The country also has a rich material culture and a strong tradition in technology.
Climate of Russia:
The climate of Russia is formed under the influence of several determining factors. The enormous size of the country and the remoteness of many areas from the sea result in the dominance of the continental climate, which is prevalent in European and Asian Russia. Due to the moderating influence of the Atlantic or Pacific, the most populous areas of the country in European Russia, in the south, experience a humid continental climate. Most of Northern European Russia has a subarctic climate, with extremely severe winters. Areas of southernmost Russia possess a semi-arid climate.
Education in Russia:
Higher education is provided by public and non-public (non-state) accredited higher educational institutions. There are two levels of higher education, namely basic higher education and postgraduate higher education. More than 880 higher education institutions in the country offer a wide number of programmes that include both research and study programmes. There are preparatory courses for international students wherein an intensive training in Russian language is provided. For the high quality of education that Russian universities provide, the tuition fees are comparatively low.

The following documents are required for a student visa:
- General health certificate of the candidate
- The candidate’s current diploma or educational certificate
- A letter of Invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its Regional Office
- The original passport of the candidate
Students are required to submit their application forms with all the documents in the Russian embassy situated in their area.
