The United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven emirates situated in the southeast of the Arabian Peninsula in Southwest Asia. Situated on the Persian Gulf, UAE is bordered by Oman and Saudi Arabia and shares maritime boundaries with Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Iran. Islam is the official religion, and Arabic is the official language of UAE. The largest emirate is Abu Dhabi and it accounts for 87 percent of UAE’s total area. The smallest emirate, Ajman, encompasses only 259 square kilometers.

Culture of UAE:

Traditionally, the people of Abu Dhabi are courteous, kind, friendly, and quite hospitable both in social matters and in business. Foreigners, especially tourists and visitors, are treated with generosity. Though, it is important to note that foreigners in UAE are expected to respect local customs, especially religious practice and abide by the law of the land. This is particularly apparent during Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, non-Muslim foreigners are expected to refrain from eating, drinking and smoking in public places during the hours of fasting.

Climate of UAE:

The United Arab Emirates has a sub-tropical arid climate; it tends to be warm in winter, with hot and humid conditions in the summer months. The sun shines all the year round in the UAE and makes it an ideal summer resort. During summer (April to September) the weather is hot (around 50 degrees C) and extremely humid. There can be occasional sandstorms from the desert and some winter mornings bring fog, although this usually dissipates quickly.

The UAE has established an excellent and diversified system of higher education in a very short period. Nationals can attend either government institutions or a wide range of private institutions with international accreditation, which supplement the public sector.
