FOSTIIMA philosophy is to give the next best management education to aspiring students who could not get into the top IIMs. The curriculum STRATEGY – PLANNING-DELIVERY-EVALUATION cycle is a major tool towards this mission.
STRATEGY – Collectively generated by a team of IIM alumni, with inputs from Industry and students and faculty.
PLANNING – Teachers notebook and Plan is prepared with details topics and in the beginning of the semester is circulated to students also.
DELIVERY – Details are given below in 10 steps.
EVALUATION- Students are evaluated on a continuous comprehensive basis, Faculty is also evaluated with feedback from students and self evaluation at end of semester.

CONTENT OF COURSES
- Taken from IIM- A and FMS syllabus in addition to Pondicherry and Bhartiar University. All courses were analyzed with their relevance to our kind of student input and then shortlisted according to Basic, and Specialized areas of management education.
- Courses CONTENT developed with the input of faculty own experience and judgment, not just copy paste formula from universities, which are usually outdated or not updated recently.
- Both Indian and foreign authors are used.
- Emphasis on soft skills in addition to hard skills. Supplementary coaching is given to students weak in Math’s or Communication. Also grooming and communication skills are developed in a structured manner at subsidized costs.
- Contemporary events given weight age in structured manner by weekly guest lectures, which are also evaluated as part of curriculum.
- Dual MBA is given by Pondicherry as well as FOSTIIMA. The content of FOSTIIMA covers the Pondicherry course!
LAYOUT OF COURSES OVER TWO YEARS- HUT approach:
The basic courses of all management verticals including communication, are compulsory to all in the first year forming the base or breadth of the management pyramid. General management courses such as Entrepreneurship and Business policy and strategy cap the courses in second year, making a HUT of knowledge, by reintegrating the breadth and depth of courses. Summer internship is compulsory between first and second year, adding value to theoretical concepts for freshers.
FACULTY:
The institute boasts of IIM oriented faculty with hands on experience ranging from 10 to over 30 years. It also has young faculty, who brings in contemporary concepts and experience. Guest lectures from practicing specialized managers across all topics and industry every week. Dedicated faculty on full or part time basis for core subjects
TEACHING STYLE and EVALUATION OF STUDENTS – GRID approach

TEXT BOOK
Choice of textbook is left to wisdom of faculty, but jointly vetted by curriculum team.
CASE STUDY METHOD- 6 deep
- Cases are compulsory and can be taken from main author text book.
- Cases can be taken from different authors, or different discipline, to demonstrate cross discipline applicability.
- Cases generated from teachers own experience.
- Cases can grow in class along with entire course or term.
- Create live cases from live projects in field.
- Cases are discussed with opposing views by different student teams to generate different views.
TEAM BUILDING
TEAMs are created to study cases or projects, with heterogeneous structure based on gender, English language fluency, small town or metro, hostel and local, discipline like accounts, commerce, science or engineering, work experience etc. Self governance teams created by students for canteen, hostel management, placement, corporate interface, and events and management etc
Cultural programs encourage all talents and teamwork and Off site visits for holiday and team building and interaction with faculty and students.
