Counselling from July 8 for govt quota in self-financing engineering college seats

The general counselling for government quota seats in self-financing engineering colleges in the state will commence on July 8 and go on for 35 days at Anna University here.
Speaking to reporters after releasing random numbers for engineering counselling, higher education minister P.Palaniappan said Anna University had received 1,48,353 applications from students to take part in counselling and the fee waiver for first generation students scheme launched by the previous DMK government would continue this academic year also.

He pointed out that counselling for candidates of vocational stream would take place from July 1 to 6 and for the differently abled on July 7.

Replying to a question on the fate of five Anna University of Technology in the state as the state government has brought all engineering colleges under Chenna Anna University’s control Mr Palaniappan refused t divulge any details but sai the government would tabl a Bill for conversion of AU into affiliating type. “A details of five AUTs are con fidential I cannot say muc about it,“ he said.

Responding to another question, the minister said the search panel for recommending three names to the chancellor for the post of vice-chancellor in MS University, Tirunelveli, Madurai Kamarajar and Mother Teresa Women’s University would be constituted soon.
“The process will be done in a much transparent mans ner and only a deserving person will be appointed,“ he said.

The government has prerpared the inter-se seniority list among college teachers for appointment as principals as per Supreme Court verdict and directions, the minister said.
