LUCKNOW – In a bid to implement Right to Education Act, Uttar Pradesh government today approved a scheme to provide training to untrained ‘shiksha mitras’ through distance learning education programme.
The proposal was passed during a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by chief minister Mayawati, an official spokesman said.
“Under the scheme two-years training will be provided to ‘shiksha mitras’ as per the norms of National Teachers Education Board for implementation of Right to Education Act,” the spokesman said.
He said that the course would be based on continued evaluation process and certificates would be given to the trainees by State Council for Education Research and Training after passing the final examination.
“Under the scheme a target of training 1.25 lakh shiksha mitras by June 2015 has been fixed,” the spokesman said.
He said that Rs 100 as registration fee and Rs 300 and examination fee would be charged from each trainee and training would be held in batches of 70 candidates.
“Though the shiksha mitras would continue to get honorarium during training period, they will be required to arrange lodging facility during contract programme at the block and city level,” he said.
