Sify, Loyola’s joint programme in instructional design

09, Aug 2011

Sify Software Ltd has announced their collaboration with Loyola Institute of Vocational Education (LIVE), Loyola College, Chennai, to offer a job-oriented certificate programme ‘Learning Design’. This collaboration would set the platform for students to acquire human and academic excellence from LIVE and necessary technical exposure from Sify’s expertise to enter the e-learning industry as Instructional Designers.

Sify with its experience of a decade in the learning industry has rolled out this programme to meet the growing demand for qualified Instructional Designers.

The Learning Design Certificate Programme (LDCP) is most appropriate for individuals who are willing to explore e-learning and pursue Instructional Design as a career. LDCP is a six-month credit-based certificate course delivered through an instructor-led classroom session.

The programme is designed with an objective to provide the students with adequate job exposure in the e-learning industry. Qualified e-learning professionals from Sify would deliver the training to impart specialised skill sets and make the candidates industry-ready.

Devraj Shetty, senior VP and head, Sify eLearning, said, “The current growth in the learning industry has increased the demand for skilled/qualified instructional designers at various levels. This programme would be the first-of-its kind to impart specialised job skills and prepare students as Instructional Designers. We would also develop similar programmes to contribute towards the skill development initiative in the learning industry.”

B.R. Jayachandran, Deputy Director, LIVE, said this collaboration would help to close the existing skill gap in the learning industry.

“As graduates from any discipline are eligible for this programme, this would be a good opportunity for freshers with good communication and written skills to enter the job market,” he said.

The programme would commence in the first week of August and students can approach LIVE, Loyola College, for the admission procedure.

To select the first batch of candidates for this programme, Sify would do an initial screening for communication and written skills.
