Alternating between bearish and bullish trends, financial markets in India and across the globe are in greater need of professionals who can set standards of practice and monitor these developments. In this regard, the Bombay Stock Exchange Training Institute has introduced a certificate program—the Global Financial Markets—to train aspirants in this field.
Elaborating on the newly launched course, Vinod Nair, Head of Academics and Product Development, BSE Training Institute, said, “the Global Financial Markets Professional (GFMP) program is a course on financial markets that prepares students to face aggressive competition and fast-paced decision-making. The course trains aspiring finance professionals to oversee the preparation of financial reports and direct investment and implement cash management strategies to achieve long-term goals.”
The certificate course—open to undergraduate and graduate students—is spread over four semesters of classroom sessions and one semester of industry practice.
The coursework also includes a mandatory six-month internship program with a corporate firm. “The objective of the internship is to allow students to apply what they learn in classrooms to a real-world environment,” comments Nair, adding that every semester will end with an assessment of the students: a written exam (80 marks) and an evaluation of assignments submitted through the semester (20 marks).
Students can pursue the GFMP along with their regular college education as it is only a concurrent college program that commences every month. The course, delivered part time, allows flexible learning hours; students can choose a slot as per their convenience. “The program will equip college graduates to get ready for a job, even before they graduate. On the other hand, working professionals can get trained, certified, and increase their expertise,” informs Nair.
Students need to submit duly filled forms—available at the BSE office—for applying to the certificate course. Candidates will be admitted to the program only after a screening process. You will be evaluated on the basis of your academic record, communication skills, and attitude. The course fee, exclusive of tax, totals to Rs. 120,000. However, students who do not wish to pay the gross amount in one go can avail any of the installment schemes on offer.
On successful completion of the course, students are awarded a certificate in GFMP from the BSE Institute.
