“Saarang shall strive to provide a world-class platform for students to showcase their talents and by bringing together world renowned artists to inspire and enthrall the Saarang audience and try to better itself every edition by following the path of quality, improvement and continual evolution.”

With a vision statement like that it is hardly surprising that Saarang, the annual cultural festival of IIT Madras, has continuously improved the experience of all the people associated with it, be it the organizers, the sponsors, or the participants. They’ve most certainly strongly abided with the festival’s vision.

If the quality of the festival has been not just maintained but constantly improved, there is a reason. Saarang has a dedicated Quality Management team that springs into action during the conduct of the festival to take care of the documentation of all the processes and collect feedback from audience, participants, judges, sponsors, and others. These comments and feedback are carefully analyzed and necessary actions are planned and implemented in the successive edition for a better Saarang.

Saarang undergoes professional quality audits every year, to improve itself continuously. Last year Saarang got the ISO 9001:2008 certification, which was issued by TUV-NORD, a Germany-based leading certifying agency. This certifying body assesses and certifies the fulfillment of legal requirements and voluntary standards of Saarang through quality audits.

You may be a musician or budding artist, a debater or tech wizard, Saarang offers an opportunity to showcase your talent in the most competitive and challenging of all college festivals. After the excitement of the events during the day, each day shows by professionals offer a perfect way to unwind in the evening. The scale and grandeur of the shows are now a given. Saarang draws around 50,000 people from across the country and across all ages, and it sets the standard as far as cultural festivals go.

Saarang is five nights and four days of awesome experience, whether you are a participant or among the audience. It promises to deliver almost 15 hours of entertainment and fun every single day of the festival. You may participate and win exciting cash prizes or simply watch and be amazed at the sheer grandeur of Saarang. You can expect the most talented youngsters from across India to battle it out for the glory of winning an event at Saarang.
Saarang 2012 is slated to happen from the 18th to the 22nd of January, and promises to be better than ever. Along with the standard events that have attracted the most talented people across India year after year, the latest edition of Saarang is set to incorporate a new set of events including The Big Plan, INK Talks, Hindu-Nxg Rockstar, Saarang Carnival (erstwhile Informals), Saarang InQuizition, Saarang Spray (a Guinness record-breaking attempt), Cinemascope (where world’s most acclaimed short films are screened), Saarang Debate, Adventure Zone … to name a few. We also have a host of events and activities for both college and non-college students, including workshops, lectures and demonstrations by eminent personalities and many more.

The professional shows, regarded the highlight of Saarang, planned for this edition are sure to rock your world with spectacular performances. Another event not to be missed is the World Culture Show.
