AIIMS to train 67 young doctors for research

New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has decided to provide extensive training for research work to its 67 young doctors, among the 97 newly recruited faculty members.

Professor AB Dey, Dean Research, AIIMS said that they are looking at increasing their research capability. Hence, these young doctors will be trained by the senior faculty in latest research and technology.

DU announces cut-off dates

All set for admissions for the academic session of 2012-13, Delhi University has come out with dates of the prospective cut-offs. A total of five cut-off lists will be prepared this year with the first cut-off to be announced on June 26. Students will get three days’ time to complete their admission procedures after declaration of each cut-off list. The three-day margin, unlike the earlier trend, will begin from the day the cut-offs are announced. The remaining four cut-off lists will be out on June 29, July 3, July 6 and July 10 respectively.

Research in Social Sciences Gets a Leg Up

The Human Resource Development Ministry on Monday announced a five-point agenda for attracting talent into social science research, an area where India’s track-record has been less than impressive. The agenda includes institution of 10 annual awards for the advancement of knowledge in social sciences. Given India’s not-so-impressive track-record in social science research, such a move has indeed been long overdue. The agenda was announced by Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal at an international conference on “Indian Social Sciences in the Changing World: Roles, Responsibilities and Reforms.”
