Young Science Fellowship Programme
Introduction:
Indian Institute of Science IISc, Bangalore was founded in 1909 and is today a top ranking prestigious Institution devoted to post graduate education and research in all branches of science and engineering.
It has more than 40 departments, nearly 500 faculty and 2000 students on its campus.
IIISc offers Young Science fellowship programme (YSFP) partially supported by Sir Ratan Tata Trust Bombay. This fellowship is for toppers in PUC /12th Standard who wish to pursue studies / research in Science / Mathematics.
Eligibility
Student must have passed PUC / 12th Standard or equivalent examination and must be a topper (top 20 ranks or equivalent) in the Board / University. In cases where ranks are not declared like CBSE/ICSE, he/she must have obtained a high level of distinction of the Board or be within the top 1% of the students taking the examination. In the absence of this data, suitable criterion will be evolved by IISc.
- Student must have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects at +2 level..
- Student must have joined B. Sc/Integrated M.Sc programme in any branch (es) of Science and Mathematics at any College / University in India..
- Second class rail/bus to and from fare from college / residence to IISc.
- Free board and lodging (on a shared basis) at IISc..
- Towards fees at actuals or Rs. 5,000/- per annum whichever is less (no deposits/donations)..
- A grant of Rs.1,500/- per annum towards purchase of books..
- Copy of the PUC / +2 / CBSE / ICSE Marks Card..
- Copy of SC / ST Certificate.
- Study certificate from the Principal..
Candidates studying Bachelor degree in Veternery/ Engineering / Dental /Medicine/Pharmacy are not eligible for this Fellowship. There will be suitable relaxation in the eligibility criteria for SC/ST students.
