Engineering Entrance Exam for Assam JAT Studies
Assam Joint Admission Test is conducted by the Director of Technical Education, Assam. It is conducted for the candidates who aspire to take admission into the various undergraduate courses in the engineering college, medical college, regional dental college and ayurvedic college in the state of Assam and NIT (Assam state quota) are also selected through Assam JAT. Every year the time and venue of the entrance is notified by the Director of Technical Education in Assam Gazette and other newspapers as well. Generally, Assam JAT is held in the month of May every year which is liable to changes.

Eligibility
The Director of Technical Education, Assam, has set several rules and regulations regarding eligibility for Assam Joint Admission Test. The admission seekers have to clear all the below mentioned eligibility requirements to appear in the competitive entrance test.
- The candidate should be above 17 years of age and must be a resident of the state of Assam.
- The candidates need to have cleared Higher Secondary Certificate Examination of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council or its equivalent, from any recognized state/national Board.
- The qualifying examination must be passed by the candidates with not less than 50% marks (45% in case of SC and 40% in case of ST) in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the first attempt.
- The candidates, who are applying for B.Tech courses through Assam JAT, should not be above 21 years of age (three years relaxation for SC/ST candidates) and below 17 years of age.
Syllabus
Assam Joint Admission Test, popularly known as Assam JAT, is conducted for admitting students to various undergraduate programs in the fields of engineering, medical, dental and ayurvedic colleges as well as in the NIT, Guwahati quota. Assam JAT is conducted by the Director of Technical Education (DTE), Assam. Test center for the exam is decided by DTE Assam. The questions in the entrance test are asked from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English of the general standard of 10+2 examination, of various educational Boards of India. Topics covered in each paper are as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
