Engineering Entrance Exam for IIT JEE Studies
Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are the premier engineering and technological institutes in India playing a leading role in technological manpower development of the country. Every year IITs conduct an all India Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) popularly known as IIT-JEE for admission into the Undergraduate Programmes offered by IITs along with IT BHU Varanasi and ISM Dhanbad. The exam is conducted by various IITs by a policy of rotation.

Candidates who successfully pass the IIT-JEE can apply for admission into these following courses:
- M. Pharm. Dual Degree 5 Years
- M.Sc. Integrated 5 Years
- M.Sc. Tech. Integrated 5 Years
- M.Tech. Integrated 5 Years
- M.Tech. Dual Degree 5 Years
- B Tech
- B Tech (Dual Degree)
Eligibility
IIT-JEE entrance examination opens the door for the aspirants to seek admission into Bachelor’s level courses in the field of engineering and architecture. The minimum eligibility criteria for the aspirants to appear in entrance examination are as follows:
- The candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination conducted by recognized Central/State Board in science stream. Those, who have passed 10+2 from National Open School with not less than five subjects of study, are also eligible. Or
- The applicants should have passed 3 or 4-year Diploma program recognized by AICTE or any State Board of Technical Education.
- The candidates belonging to General/OBC category must have secured minimum 60% aggregate marks in their qualifying examinations, while for SC/ST/Physically Disabled candidates the minimum percentile is 55%.
- The age of the applicant should be between 16-24 years as on the first day of October of the year of examination. Relaxation of 5 years is there in upper age limit for Schedule cast (SC), schedule tribe (ST) and physically handicapped (PH) candidates.
- The candidates should not have earlier accepted admission by paying full fees at any of the institutes coming under the purview of IIT-JEE.
Syllabus
The syllabus for IIT-JEE entrance examination includes curriculum studied by the aspirants in 11th & 12th standards. The test includes three sections-physics, chemistry and mathematics.Detailed syllabus of the following subject is enlisted below.
Physics
Modern physics, Wave nature of light, Optics, Electromagnetic induction, Electricity and magnetism, Thermal physics, Mechanics, and General physics.
Chemistry
The syllabus of chemistry is divided into three sections-
- Physical Chemistry
- Inorganic Chemistry
- Organic Chemistry
Mathematics
- The topics included in the Mathematics syllabus for IIT JEE are Algebra, Trigonometry, Differential calculus, Integral calculus, Vectors, Analytical geometry comprising both two dimensions, and three dimensions.
