Engineering Entrance Exam for TNPCEE Studies

Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examinations (TNPCEE) is an entry level test conducted by Anna University, Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu for candidates who seek admission to all Professional Courses in Tamil Nadu. Besides Anna University there are many participating institutes of TNPCEE..

The rank of the students is determined on the basis of performance of the candidate in the TNPCEE and Class 12 Board Examination. The TNPCEE carries 100 marks whereas the Class 12 Board Examination carries 200 marks (marks secured in Class 12 Board Exam of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry normalized to 100 marks, 50 marks and 50 marks respectively).

Eligibility

Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPCEE) is a state-level entrance examination one has to follow the eligibility criteria given in the following lines..

• The candidates have to pass 10+2 or equivalent qualifying examination from a recognized Board.
• The applicants, who are appearing in the qualifying examination in the same year of entrance examination or are waiting for result, are also eligible.
• For admission into B.E. and B. Tech programs, the candidates must have secured 60% marks in Mathematics and 60% in Physics and Chemistry taken together and aggregate of 140/200 in all the above subjects taken together.
• Relaxation is there for SC/ST/ MBC/DT and Backward Class candidates.
• The applicants are required to meet domicile requirements of the state as laid down by the respective Admitting Authorities for admission to their Professional programs.
• Other State candidates are restricted for admission into some of the Professional Courses under TNPCEE.
• The upper age limit for the candidate is 21 years as on 1st July of the year of admission. Relaxation of three year is there for SC/ST candidates.

Syllabus

Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPCEE) consists of questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics subjects of 10+2 level.

Physics

Questions from physics are from following topics- Thermodynamics, Measurement and Units, Wave Motion, Alternating Current Circuits, Radiation, Harmonic Motion, Modern Physics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Magnetic Field, and Electronics.

Chemistry

Syllabus of chemistry includes the study of- Atom, Chemical Equilibrium and Ionic Equillibria, Chemical Kinetics, nuclear chemistry, properties and reactions of alkanes, alkenes and alkynes, Transition elements (3d series), Ores and minerals, non-metals and compounds, and Hybridisation of carbon, Sigma and pi-bonds.

Mathematics

Algebra, Arithmetic, Logarithms, Induction, Complex Numbers, Matrices, calculus, Quadratic Equations, Co-ordinate Geometry, Sets and Relations, Trigonometry, Parabola, Hyperbola, Circle, Ellipse and Conics.
