MCA Entrance Exam for GCET MCA Studies
Gujarat Common Entrance Test, prominently called GCET, is conducted by Gujarat Technological University, every year for admission into two-year, full-time and three-year evening Master of Business Administration (MBA) course, along with Master of Computer Application (MCA) course. Candidates desirous to seek admission in any of the aforesaid postgraduate courses are bound to appear in the entrance examination, except IIM Ahmedabad.Â
The scores of the entrance examination are considered by various prominent Universities of Gujarat, namely, Bhavnagar University, Dharmsinh Desai University, Ganpat University, Gujarat University, Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya, M.S University, Sardar Patel University, Saurashtra University, Gujarat Technological University and Veer Narmad South Gujarat University and their affiliated institutes. GCET, the single window entrance exam, was conducted for the first time in 2002. Â
Eligibility
The candidates with BCA degree from a recognized Gujarat University are eligible. Those, who have done graduation in some other field from any recognized University of Gujarat, are also eligible, provided they have studied Mathematics or statistics as one of the subject at 10+2 level. Exemption of study of Mathematics or statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level is only for those, who have studied BCA from Gujarat University. The candidates with graduation degree from places outside Gujarat are eligible, in case they have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Mathematics/Business Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognized school located in Gujarat.
Non-resident Gujarati (NRG) candidates, who have passed qualifying examination from places outside Gujarat and Gujarati-NRI candidates are eligible only for admission under management quota of private unaided institutes.
The candidates, who have appeared in the qualifying examination and are waiting for their results are eligible, but their admission will be considered as provisional till the declaration of the result.
Examination Pattern
The entrance examination consists of 250 objective questions, which are required to be answered with in the time-limit of three hours of duration. Four alternatives are given against each specific question. The candidate is required to choose the correct option. 25% of the total marks allotted for the question are deducted in case of every wrong answer.

- Analytical and Logical Reasoning
- Language Ability
- Mathematics/Business aptitude
The questions on Mathematics or Statistics will be of 10+2 standard of Gujarat HSC Board.
