Nursing Entrance Exam for TNPCEE Studies

Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examinations (TNPCEE) is an entry level test conducted by Anna University, Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu for candidates who seek admission to all Professional Courses in Tamil Nadu. Besides Anna University there are many participating institutes of TNPCEE.

The rank of the students is determined on the basis of performance of the candidate in the TNPCEE and Class 12 Board Examination. The TNPCEE carries 100 marks whereas the Class 12 Board Examination carries 200 marks (marks secured in Class 12 Board Exam of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry normalized to 100 marks, 50 marks and 50 marks respectively)

Eligibility

Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPCEE) is a state-level entrance examination one has to follow the eligibility criteria given in the following lines.

  • The candidates have to pass 10+2 or equivalent qualifying examination from a recognized Board.
  • The applicants, who are appearing in the qualifying examination in the same year of entrance examination or are waiting for result, are also eligible.
  • The candidates, who desires to seek admission in B. Sc Nursing Sc programs should have secured 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together and 60% in Physics and Chemistry taken together and aggregate of 140/200 in all the above subjects taken together.
  • Relaxation is there for SC/ST/ MBC/DT and Backward Class candidates.
  • The applicants are required to meet domicile requirements of the state as laid down by the respective Admitting Authorities for admission to their Professional programs.
  • Other State candidates are restricted for admission into some of the Professional Courses under TNPCEE.
  • The upper age limit for the candidate is 21 years as on 1st July of the year of admission. Relaxation of three year is there for SC/ST candidates.

Examination Pattern

Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPCEE) is conducted for admission into various programs. The entrance examination consists of six papers. The candidates have to appear in these papers according to the program they aspire to study. The six papers consists of

  • Biology
  • Physical Sciences (Questions in Physics and Chemistry)
  • Mathematics
  • Related Subjects (For Vocational stream candidates)
  • Vocational Subjects (For Vocational stream candidates)
  • Aptitude Test in Architecture (Compulsory for B. Arch. candidates)

Each paper possesses objective questions with multiple options. For Medical program, the candidates are required to appear in first two papers, while for admission in Engineering and Technology program; one has to qualify second and third paper. Each paper consists of 50 marks. The candidates are selected as per their marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology obtained in qualifying examination and in the TNPCEE exam. The weight age given to qualifying examination is twice to entrance examination.
