About Us
The Jamiatu Muslim Mindanao (JMM) an institution of higher learning was established out of the physical and financial resources of the Agama Islam Society.The Society was founded in 1956 by late Sheikh Ahmad Basher and his devoted companions (Board of Directors) from the Ulama (Ustadj) and Traditional (Cali) Group; he serves as a founding President. They started their simple Madrasah education with seven classrooms at the residence of former Lanao del Sur Provincial Governor Abdulgaffor Madki Alonto in Lolong, Dansalan. The Madrasah was initially named as Madrasatul Arabiya, offering primary and elementary grades with 8 teachers (Ustdaj/Ustadja) and 150 pioneering students (morit), who are now the famous Ulamas in the Philippines. From then on they started organizing many Arabic schools (Madaris) in Mindanao.
