IETT has two campuses. One is Guanghuamen Campus (the old campus) in Baixia District, Nanjing, near the famous Purple Mountain and by the side of Qinhuai River. It boasts of beautiful scenery and convenient transportation. The other is Jiangning Campus (the new campus), covering an area of over 1000 mu(about 67 hectares) and a construction area of 600,000 square metres with modern buildings. It consists of business and industry management department, art and design department, trade and economic department, accounting department, IT department, engineering department, humanities and social sciences department, tourism management department, applied foreign language department, physical education department, on-job education school, international education school and aged service school. More than 50 academic specialties focus on business, engineering, trade, and modern service industry. There are also specialties on humanities, technology and art. Currently the institute runs regular college diploma program, adult college diploma program, adult undergraduate program, five-year vocational higher educational program, etc. At present there are over 13000 students on the two campuses in the institute. The institute has a strong team of competent faculty members, 400 of whom each have two job titles or intermediate job titles or above. It has modern education facilities and equipments, including broadband high speed campus internet connection, 3000 computers, 80 multimedia classrooms, 18 e-reading rooms, 20 reading rooms and 90 laboratories of various kinds. Its library has more than 860,000 books and nearly 1000 kinds of national and international periodicals. There is a modern educational technology center, a comprehensive laboratory building, a student center, playing grounds, an interior gymnasium, etc. There are enough dormitories for 13 thousand students. The dormitories are equipped with telephones, internet access, independent restrooms and shower equipments. The institute takes the initiative in organizingJiangsuModern Service Industry Vocational Education Group and establishing a provincial model circulation engineering training center, which consists of the following seven centers, marketing training center, e-commerce center, chain management training center, financial investment training center, commercial planning training center, and tourism and exhibition center, which lay a solid foundation for improving students’ vocational skills and competence. The institute takes the initiative to find and use new modes of education and training. It is practicing many kinds of reforms in teaching, learning and education. It is applying its advantages in location, industry, society and cooperation with enterprises, takes the road of characterization, modernization and internationalization and realizes very good educational effectiveness and efficiency. The institute adheres to the educational policy of focusing on economy and trade, meeting the need of the society, adjusting itself to the market and serving the economy and implementing education with our own characteristics, open education and recruited-in-advance education. It has cooperated with many well-known national enterprises, such asJiangsuFive Star Electric Appliance Co. Ltd, Suning Household Electric Appliance Group, Nanjing Daming Automobile Street, Nantong Fabric Commercial Association, Hongtu Sanbo Hi-tech Technology Shareholding Co, Ltd, Shanghai Double Deer Air-conditioner Manufacturing Co, Ltd, etc and many higher educational institutions in foreign countries, such as Canada, Singapore, Holland, Australia New Zealand. It has set up the principle of offering specialties, various teaching programs, practical courses, application-oriented vocational education, according to the need of the society. Great importance has been attached to students’ comprehensive quality and vocational competence. Meanwhile, emphasis has been laid upon the education quality, thus ensuring students’ specialty, creativity, solid command of skills, knowledge and competence, and foreign language advantage.The institute has established a wide network for graduates’ employment throughout the whole nation and employment fairs are held regularly. Every student has at least three positions to choose from. The employment rate is as high as 98%. The institute has been evaluated as an advanced higher educational institute by the Educational Administration of theJiangsuProvincial Government.
