A House Bill was filed at the Philippine Congress last February 28, 2005. House Bill Number 03820 or ""AN ACT CONVERTING THE SOUTHERN LUZON POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE (SLPC) IN LUCBAN, QUEZON, ITS UNITS AND SATELLITE CAMPUSES IN SAMPALOC, INFANTA, POLILIO, TAGKAWAYAN AND ALABAT, ALL IN THE PROVINCE OF QUEZON, AND THE LUCENA DUAL-TECH LIVELIHOOD AND TRAINING CENTER IN THE CITY OF LUCENA TO A STATE UNIVERSITY TO BE KNOWN AS THE SOUTHERN LUZON STATE UNIVERSITY (SLSU), APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES"" was authored by Cong. Rafael P. Nantes of 1st District, Quezon. Dr. Cecilia N. Gascon, SLPC's Acting President led the College Personnel in witnessing the submission of the bill.
