Library The University of Amsterdam has an extensive central University Library, with over four million volumes. In addition, a number of departments have their own libraries.The Library of the UvA is located in the city centre. It contains over four million books, 70,000 manuscripts, 500,000 letters, and 125,000 maps.In the Main Library you will also find specialised collections in the Department of Rare and Precious Works, the Manuscript and Writing Museum, the Bibliotheca Rosenthaliana with its collection of material relating to Jewish history and culture, and the Department of Documentation on Social Movements. The Main Library also has three reading rooms which provide students with a space where they can study quietly.IT Facilitites:Various UvA study centres offer computer workstations with printers. Each computer workstation has a fast internet connection. Log in to the computer workstation using your UvAnetID. Each study centre has an information desk where you can obtain information about that particular study centre and several other UvA ICT services.Childcare Centres Students and staff of the UvA can place their children at one of three nurseries of the Stichting eigentijdse kinderopvang Amsterdam (Stek). University Restaurants, Bars and Canteens Food in the university restaurants is good and cheap. The menu is printed in Dutch every week in Folia (independent university magazine). Both student restaurants also have bars. The bars, the Atrium, the Agora and the other canteens also rent out rooms and cater for receptions and other university events.
