About Us

University of Winnipeg is a university located in Winnipeg, Manitoba that was established in 1967. The university offers under graduate and post graduate programs in the fields of Arts and Science. Its infrastructure is spread out over a large campus and is replete with a variety of facilities, including hostel, Free Training English and library. The University of Winnipeg is a dynamic campus in transition. We are becoming the downtown hub that connects people from diverse cultures and nurtures global citizens. We offer high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs including several that are unique in Western Canada, for example, a Bachelor of Arts in Human Rights and Global Studies, and a Master’s degree in Aboriginal Governance. Its graduates value their educational experience, and in the June 2008 issue of Maclean’s Graduate Survey, ranked UWinnipeg in the Top-10 of all Canadian universities. This vote of confidence is backed by the Globe & Mail Report Card 2008, which gives UWinnipeg an overall “A” grade. A quick stroll across Portage Commons and around our expanding campus highlights our focus as a leader in academic excellence, Aboriginal education, environmental studies, and theatre and arts. Renovations are underway at the CanWest Centre for Theatre & Film. Construction has started on the Richardson College for the Environment & Science Complex and a new student residence, McFeetors Hall. The newly renovated Duckworth Centre, including The Bill Wedlake Fitness Centre now attracts students, staff and members of the public to its state-the-art facilities. We offer small class sizes and a dedicated team of professors, sessional instructors and support staff. Whether you are a new or returning student, I want to personally welcome you to The University of Winnipeg.
