About us
Vels University––approved by the University Grants Commission (U.G.C) and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in June 2008––is located at Pallavaram, Chennai – India, just 1 km from the Railway Station – 4 kms from Chennai Airport. It is one of the few private universities in India, to provide courses on a diverse range of subjects including Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Maritime Studies, Hotel & Catering Management, Mass Communication, Commerce, Life Sciences, Basic Sciences and Computing Sciences.( Full time and Part time M.Phil and Ph.D programmes are offered in all the schools.)
The University’s School of Management Studies is ranked 52nd in the country and 3rd in Tamil Nadu according to the 4P’s – ICMR Survey, June 2010. The Engineering, Hotel & Catering management and Physiotherapy Schools also find a place in the ‘Best Colleges in India’ Survey by TSI –ICMR of June 2010. The University has made rapid strides in providing Quality Education, and its rankings are just a testimony to this commitment.
